Kiss Me (I Don’t Care)
On the way home from the party,
I thought you would be there.
He’s inside your hallway,
And I’m sitting on your stairs.
You don’t really know how I can’t leave you,
But I don’t really think you care.
And then you grab my chin and face me, saying
Kiss me I don’t care.
Moments driving round in Round Man’s car;
Secret touches as we rode.
It pained me not to pull you closer,
Acting out the letters you wrote.
The playground swings at midnight, with you;
The street light’s in your hair.
We both know the longing is over this night,
So kiss me, I don’t care.
Kiss me, I don’t care.
Your every action was an invitation,
It was just a matter of when.
And your lips exceeded expectations,
I’m hoping that we’ll do this again.
You, you wear me down (with those clothes you wear)
I said you, you wear me down (why you hangin’ around?)
Your every action was an invitation,
It was just a matter of when.
And your lips exceeded expectations,
I’m hoping that we’ll do this again.
Poetry couldn’t contain the crux of,
The story, the motive, the heated warnings
That we get in the moment when logic leaves,
But we can hope and pray there’s a divine reason.
So…Kiss…Me…
